The max write speed of the Sandisk Extreme Pro is 90 MB/s, which makes it an excellent choice for the photographer with a finger pressing the shutter. That said, the 60 MB/s write speed offered by the Sandisk Extreme Plus is not bad either, while the Sandisk Extreme ’s 40 MB/s will likely be fine for casual users.

In terms of reliability in the SD card market, SanDisk is certainly one of the top brands. We’ve chosen to highlight three of their SD cards in this article – the Ultra, Extreme, and Extreme Pro – but their full range is a little wider. Each one of these SD cards is excellent in its own right. As with previous years, and again to get right to the point, here are my recommendations for a microSD card for your Pi: Samsung Evo+ - $8 on Amazon. SanDisk Extreme - $10 on Amazon. The Evo+ is one of the lowest-priced microSD cards (less than ten USD on Amazon right now), and it has either the best or near-best performance for every metric. Generally, SanDisk Ultra Plus SD cards are fit for everyday use, while Extreme Plus SD cards are best for heavier tasks like shooting 4K video.
